Social Media is the best way to promote a brand in this digital age. You want your brand to be recognizable when posting on social media, which is achieved by creating brand awareness. Tools such as color schemes, consistent fonts, and logos across social posts, are all important for brand awareness. A brand kit is used to keep these elements organized. Microsoft Create defines a brand kit as “a set of assets or toolbox that contains all the aspects of your brand’s visual identity—logos, templates, color palette, font, and other graphics.” Now that I’ve solidified a plan for the “Ready, Set, Read!” social media campaign, the next step is creating a brand kit.
Color Schemes & Fonts

Determining a color scheme and font your brand will use throughout its social media presence is crucial. Your chosen colors and fonts will apply to logos, graphics, and other materials–even ones offline. It’s important that what you use also represents what the brand is. I started by asking Google AI what color is associated with reading. The response given was that “blue is often considered a favorable color for reading and learning because it can be calming, focusing, and trust-worthy.” Then, I looked at the Academy of Animated Art’s article about color symbolism which says that “blue is a serene color, typically reflective of tranquility and trust. It symbolizes intelligence, creativity, intuition, royalty, spirituality, and mystery.” This solidified that blue would be the perfect choice. Using the Adobe Color Wheel, I created an analogous color scheme of blues. Then, I began making my brand kit in Canva. When selecting fonts in Canva, I thought back to what I learned about fonts in a graphic design course I took. I decided that using sans serif fonts would be best for the readability of on-screen graphics. The fonts I selected reminded me of books, which is appropriate for this branding.
Brand Kit in Canva

Canva is the main software I’m using to create assets for this social media campaign. Brand Kit is a feature in Canva Pro that is helpful when you’re going to be using the same tools throughout a campaign. I easily save my colors and fonts and can access them at any time when designing graphics. The first thing I did with my brand kit was create a logo, which was a lot easier to do since I already had my colors and fonts in one place. Once the logo was made, it was added to the brand kit as well. With everything in one place, I could easily access the logo and use it on all social platforms. Then, I got to work on my first infographic for this campaign. Designing this infographic was significantly easier with all of my tools ready to go in my brand kit.
