Planning is key to being successful when completing a project. Now that I’ve proposed my social media campaign for “Ready, Set, Read!”, it’s time to start the planning and researching process.

Asana

The first step in creating a plan is deciding what you’ll use to do it. I selected Asana as my project management software for this campaign. I’d never used Asana prior to this project, and I thought it would be a good idea to learn how to use it. I found right away that I liked this software because it’s easy to use and has features such as a calendar view and a list view. I began planning my project in the calendar view because I thought it was the best option to organize individual deadline goals. Along with using the calendar, I’m also utilizing the board view with three different sections– ”to do”, “doing” and “done”. This allows me to look at what I need to do while staying focused on the present tasks, rather than thinking of everything at once.

Detailed Project Plan

Now that I have broken down everything I need to do into individual tasks, and scheduled them all in Asana, I could organize my detailed project plan. Within this plan, I included my complete calendar, as well as examples of my list and board views, and my explanation as to why I structured the plan the way that I did.

Beginning Research

With a solid plan in place, it was time to dive into the project. I’m completing research as I go to help determine the specific topics of each deliverable I’m producing. This week, my focus was to figure out a list of the benefits of adults reading for pleasure. The list will be used to create my first deliverable, which will be an infographic for social media. Throughout my research, I started to notice how different articles and studies were referenced multiple times. This was helpful because the more I saw something repeated, the more I developed an understanding of the topic. With a stronger understanding of the benefits of reading, I can successfully begin crafting deliverables.
