Culture Pop Soda has consumed my mind for the past few weeks. I created a social media campaign for the brand with the hopes of increasing and improving its social media presence. As a Gen Z social media user, I stay informed on what is doing well online. Culture Pop Soda is targeting my age group, so I had a lot of thoughts on what they should do.

Culture Pop Soda’s Social Media Presence

When conducting research, I learned a lot about Culture Pop Soda’s existing social media presence. They do a great job at incorporating trends on TikTok and their team is willing to film themselves being funny, which I loved to see. Their content also includes socially relevant topics. For example, they collaborated with Derrick White, a Celtics basketball player, during the NBA finals. Culture Pop Soda is based in Massachusetts, so I thought using a Boston player was genius. Their social media has been very effective, but I was excited to develop new ideas for them.

My Ideas

One of the biggest issues I had to think about was TikTok. TikTok is likely going to be banned in the United States. This is unfortunate because it’s a great platform, especially for businesses. I decided the best way to handle this is to continue posting but increase efforts on other platforms. Instagram Reels is an obvious choice of something else to focus on since I think TikTok users will move there if it gets banned. However, Instagram Reels involves conceptualizing, filming, and editing videos, which can take time and money. In addition to Instagram, I thought putting effort into X, formerly Twitter would be smart. X is a great platform because you don’t need a lot of production to do well. If you have people on your team who can write funny and engaging tweets, that’s all you need.

My campaign is unique because it focuses on appealing to Gen Z and Millennials, which is Culture Pop Soda’s target audience. I am in this group myself, so I included the style of humor that I know we like. This makes Culture Pop Soda’s content more relatable, which is crucial. Nowadays, people are very aware of when something is an advertisement so it’s important to come off authentically.

Culture Pop Soda would thrive even more than it already is if they used my ideas. The most successful brands on social media have employees who truly understand the target audience. What better way than to be a part of the target audience myself?
